Welcome to the wildest biosphere reserve recognised by UNESCO.

Swabian Alb Biosphere Reserve

The Swabian Alb Biosphere Reserve with its Alb plateau - the Albtrauf - and the Alb foreland is characterised by a very diverse landscape. Different geological conditions, varying climatic conditions and a longstanding form of traditional land use are reasons for this diversity. The characteristic hillside beech forests along the Albtrauf as well as the canyon and block forests obtain special significance in international comparison.
